Chadema’s Assault on Zanzibaris

Chadema

I was keeping abreast with the latest developments in Tanzania by reading online content of the Mwanahalisi newspaper and an article titled ‘Chadema Yamtega Tena JK’ prompted me to write a few words.

There has been a lot of tension between Zanzibaris andTanganyikans on matters associated with the Union and at the height of these tensions the Union Government appointed a full time Minister responsible for Union matters. Many Zanzibaris believe that their autonomy is being violated and that conduct of the Union Government represents a serious departure from original articles of the union without consensus. The recent decision of Dr. Shein to be sworn in like a Minister of the Union Government infuriated many Zanzibaris and was translated as an act of demeaning the Zanzibari Presidency. My intent is not to go into specificities of these differences and opinions, the reason I cited these examples is to put my argument in the right perspective and context by reminding readers and fellow bloggers on the political climate so that readers can make  an informed and  meaningful assessment.

Here is a quote from the said article on Chadema’s recommendation on what should be the role of the President of Zanzibar on the ongoing Constitutional Reforms.

My article is based on what I cited above and if what the newspaper report is not a fair presentation of what actually transpired during the meeting between Chadema and the President I welcome those concerned to keep the record straight.

This recommendation by Chadema to reduce the President of Zanzibar to a consultative capacity on matters that impact the lives of  all Tanzanians including Zanzibaris is a continuation of  this pattern to reduce  the status and significance of Zanzibar on union matters and is an outright assault on the people of Zanzibar. While Zanzibaris are struggling not to be marginalized and to have more say on matters that impact their lives, Chadema is perpetuating the culture of undermining Zanzibaris to a people who should be dictated to as though Zanzibaris do not have the capacity to think and decide.

It is necessary for citizens  to understand positions of political parties in order to decide what parties they wish to be supportive of, I would like to urge all Zanzibaris to factor in this position of Chadema on Zanzibaris in their quest for political affiliation and loyalty.

    @stonetown

Thanks for your cited article from the Tanganyika’s paper. Its very well said 6 comprehensible. We should all remember that, it’s our duty & responsibility to educates one other’s about things matter most to our Country Development, Sovereignty, Culture & our Identity. Having say that, they are many Zanzibaris (here) on this Blog think that CHADEMA it’s a best party ever to go for. They forgot that Chadema once was so stressed & complaints discriminately against Zanzibar constitutions changes in 2010. Which made Zanzibarios to be united 6 put their differences behinds.

The same party was once involved in sending Injunction Court order to sue SMZ for so called Zanzibar has announced its territorial water which its against the Muungano.

We have to ask ourself one question .Why Chademas conflicts angainst J.Kikwete & CCM has put an end?

Soon after J.Kikwete met secret with Chademas deligation to discused the Tanganyikans future there ware no more complains or Malumbano. As a results we saw Tanganyika minister KIBAINJUKA (Kikomo ) submited teritorial enlargement.

    Chadema they forgot that

“Registration of the Articles of Union was between the Republic of Tanganyika and the People’s Republic of Zanzibar in accordance with article 102 of the Charter” ya tarehe 14 May 1964, Mr. Jose Rolz-Bennet are un-registered. Because SMZ didnt agree with Tanganyikans leders.

Thise doccument are still at UN waiting to be RETIFYED.

This chadema has been formed by the same force that is behind ccm. After seeing it is slowly loosing popularity due to its corruption and miss management of the country.
Zanzibari should not be fooled this tybe of politicLEal trickery. Otherwise it will be from the fryng pen into the fire. OUR STRUGG SHOULD BE AGAINST TANGANYIKA CLONIALISM IT SELF ( SO CALLED MUUNGANO) THE UNION WHICH IS ILLEGALAL C HADEMA MUST UNDERSTAN THAT.

AND ABAVE ALL THAT, THE PEOPLE OF ZANZIBAR HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO DETERMINE THEIR DESTINY. THAT IS FUNDAMENTAL.

    ZANZIBARIS AWAKE

It’s “DECISION TIME”. As zanzibaris, we need to understand that, the power grip (CCM) is wanning away. We need to act now otherwise, anytime the power changes hand, we are doomed. Like south sudan, we need our independence, unlike south sudan, we need to do it peacefully. I acknowledge the strength and determination our nemesis but that the cannot match our will and resolve for self determination. Right away, our leadership need to start ground work for our independence. We cannot wait any longer.
Long Live Zanzibar, Long Live our Homeland.

… It will take ages for the people of zanzibar to understand what chadema really stands for. Chadema is after 3 governments. Wouldn’t you be better off with three governments rather than two? Chadema is the only party at the moment that can give u that. It is unfortunate that you can’t see this as your judgement is clouded by religious ideologies.
